The Islamabad to Hunza journey along the legendary Karakoram Highway is one of the world's greatest road experiences. At 540 kilometres, it winds through the Indus Valley, past Besham, Chilas, and Gilgit before arriving at the breathtaking landscapes of Hunza β with views of Rakaposhi, Ultar Sar, and Lady Finger peaks.

The Karakoram Highway (KKH) is not an ordinary road. It climbs through gorges, hugs cliff faces, crosses the Indus and Gilgit rivers, and reaches altitudes of over 2,500 metres before descending into the emerald valleys of Hunza. Every kilometre is extraordinary β and our drivers know every one of them.
We strongly recommend the Toyota Prado TXL or Land Cruiser V8 for this route. Their 4x4 systems, high ground clearance, and powerful engines handle road conditions in Kohistan and Chilas that smaller vehicles simply cannot manage safely. For groups, the Toyota Hiace Grand Cabin is our most popular Hunza transport.
The journey typically takes 12 to 14 hours without an overnight stop, though many visitors prefer to break the journey in Besham or Chilas. We can arrange multi-day tour packages with driver accommodation included.
